The Maritime IKD hosted another great clinic on Saturday. Shihan David Pyke, 8th Dan, provided the large group of local karateka with an excellent day of training in basics, kata and self defense. The day ended with 60 students testing for kyu ranks and 1 student testing for 2nd degree black belt. Great job by all. Continue your training and always strive to improve. OSU!
The Mount Allison Shotokan Karate Club has changed its name to Sackville Shotokan Karate. The name change is to make the club feel more open to people from the Town of Sackville. With a very low number of university students involved in the club, Sensei Norm decided to make the change to see if he could draw more students from the community. The Town of Sackville will be helping the club with advertising in hopes of increasing the membership. Perhaps even a future move off campus.
The Maritime IKD has confirmed a date for the January 2020 clinic. The clinic will take place at the Cumberland North Academy in Brookdale, Nova Scotia on January 25. (January 26 has been reserved in case of bad weather on the 25th.) The clinic will be conducted by Shihan David Pyke, 8th Dan. More details to follow.
