Janice Pyke, 7th Dan, began training in 1986 in Amherst, NS.
She has been attending Canadian and International tournaments since 1990, first as a competitor, then as an executive of the JKA and ISKF Canadian organization. She was appointed Director and Chief Instructor of Prince Edward Island by Master Frank Woon-A-Tai.
Janice offers outstanding assistance to Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai, above and way beyond the call of duty, which accounts for the success and development of JKA and ISKF Canada, and now to the development and success of the International Karate Daigaku. Over the years she has served as advisor, secretary/treasurer, arbitrator, and director of the national organization.
She is the IKD Tournament Director, a position that demands a great deal of patience, skill, and experience. Without her help, tournaments would not run effectively and efficiently. Janice is a long-time assistant and advisor to Shuseki Shihan and helped him write our Tournament Rules and Regulations.
In 1996, she accompanied the Canadian team to the World Shoto Cup in Japan; 1997 as a judge at The Pan-American Tournament in Mexico; 1999 as a judge at the Pan-American Tournament in Barbados as well as all Canadian Nationals and IKD events.
In 2006, Shihan Janice was promoted to 5th Dan at IKSF Master Camp.
In 2011, Shihan Janice resigned from the ISKF to join the International Karate Daigaku. In February, she was promoted to 6th Dan and earned her Class B Instructor, Examiner and Judge qualifications.
In December 2017, Shihan Janice was promoted to 7th Dan and became a member of the IKD Shihan Kai.
Shihan Janice teaches at the Honbu dojo as well as holds the position of Administrator of the Maritime IKD.
