IT’S BACK!!!!

Karate Kamp will return this year at KOA Campground in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island.

The camp will run from Sept 2-4. Bring the family and enjoy the weekend at this great Prince Edward Island summer attraction area.

Riverview Takedown & Break Fall Clinic 🗓

Riverview East Karate presents a takedown and breakfall clinic with Roy Stuart 6th dan on March 26th.

2pm- white -orange
3pm- green and up

We will have special mats brought in for this event.

FREE to attend.

The class will cover takedowns used in Kumite/break falls as well as a basic hip throw(not allowed in Kumite).

Roy Stuart, 6th Dan, stated Shotokan Karate in 1987 under Sensei Ahmed Omer who had trained under the JKA in his home country of Egypt before residing in England. Sensei Roy began training in Japanese Ju-jitsu in 2000 shortly after achieving his Sandan. In 2001, he started his own club teaching adults & children and had this up until moving to Canada in September 2011. When he first moved to PEI, he began training under Sensei Daphne Gill in Charlottetown and this is when he joined the IKD family. In 2013, he took over the Charlottetown club. In 2016, Sensei Roy earned his 6th Dan from Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai in Sackville, NB.

Cost $5 per participant (medals will be awarded)

Events:

  • Individual Kata
  • Team Kata (can be a mix of ages/genders/ranks)
  • Team Bunkai (can be a mix of ages/genders/ranks)

Choose any kata, have participant(s) bow, announce kata, perform kata, yame then bow to complete video

Videos to be submitted by noon on April 6.

Riverview Karate hosting Event 🗓

To celebrate their 1st year anniversary, Riverview East Karate will be hosting a martial arts demo on Friday, Oct. 29th at the Coverdale Rec Center. This is a fundraiser for PROkids and some training equipment. Following the demo, they will also be having a kids Halloween costume party with live music from the Basement Rockers. Very fortunate to have local martial arts groups support each other and this event. You will see demonstrations from full contact karate, judo, boxing, Taekwondo, ju-jutsu, ninjitsu and Riverview East Karate. Get your tickets for $10, as this event is expected to SELL OUT.

Riverview East Karate “Battle in the Sand” 🗓

Riverview East Karate presents “Battle in the sand” at Parlee Beach on Saturday August 28 at 10:00am. The beach clinic will consist of 30 mins training on the beach followed by a mini goodwill tournament. The tournament will consist of team kumite and every competitor will receive a trophy of either 1st place or 2nd place. The cost to compete will be $20. Students can also attend the clinic for free without competing. we will have photographer there. Talk with your sensei in class if you wish to compete for a trophy! and good luck to all!
