Student of the Month

Dec 2014 – Michel Nader

Michel NaderMichel Nader of the Amherst Shotokan Karate Academy is the December Student of the Month.

Michel credits his parents for enrolling him in karate classes at the age of 10. The hope was to improve his confindence, get him involved in the community and ingrain a healthy lifestyle in him. It did all of that and more.

Recently, Michel was promoted to Nidan by Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai in Sackville, NB.

“My favorite part of training is seeing my hard work pay off and witnessing my gradual improvement,” he said.

Michel has competed in several tournaments over the past few years. He has been extremely successful teaming with Jonathan and Michael Bradet-Legris in team events. Including a 3rd place finish at the IKD Canada Cup in 2013.

Michel has been training very hard and does not intend to stop.

“My next goal is to learn the rest of the katas.”

Maritime IKD Championship is rapidly approaching and you can bet that Michel is preparing for this event. Will he, along with the Bradet-Legris brothers, keep a tight grip on their team event success?

Ultimately, Michel’s next big step is to eventually achieve his 3rd Dan.

Michel has a very good understanding of karate. Recently, he had an article published in the Amherst News about Shotokan Karate.

Michel is very grateful to all of his instructors for everything they have taught him.

“Karate is a great way to grow as a person and learn the importance of dedication, team work and the respect of one’s self and others.”

Congratulations Michel!
