The Robinsons

The Robinsons - Amherst, NS

Karate for the Robinsons began in September 2015. Seth began training at the Amherst Shotokan Karate Academy with Shihan David Pyke. In January 2017, Seth would be joined by his parents, Andy and Nicole.

Seth, having trained for over a year longer than his parents is currently a 5th Kyu and has tested with Shihan Frank and Maureen Woon-A-Tai (Fall 2015, Fall 2016) and Shihan David Pyke (Summer 2016, Summer 2017). Andy and Nicole are currently 7th Kyu and have only tested with Shihan David Pyke up to this point (Spring 2017 & Summer 2017).

They training at the Amherst Shotokan Karate Academy under the tutelage of Shihan David and Sensei Janice Pyke.

Seth has competed at the February 2016 tournament in Amherst and was awarded a bronze medal for Individual Youth Kata. Andy and Nicole have not competed but who knows what the future will hold for them.

"We were looking for an activity for Seth to participate in and given his attraction to all things ‘ninja’ we suggested karate. He tried it and loved it. We saw how much fun he was having and decided that it would be a fun and challenging way to get some exercise. We enjoy the family friendly atmosphere of the dojo. Nicole particularly finds that practicing karate is great at reducing stress and increasing confidence."

Seth is in grade 4 at Spring Street Academy in Amherst. Andy is a Geographic Information Systems Analyst for the Province of Nova Scotia and Nicole is a Licensed Practical Nurse.

In August 2017, the entire family including Elia, who doesn't training attended the PEI Karate Camp.

When not in karate they can be found camping, playing board games or role playing games with friends and family.
